Noosa Heads Weather

We’re going to the tropics! Perhaps the best time of year to book a weekend away here would be during the Spring. There is the least chance of rainfall during September to November and you can enjoy warm temperatures for beach and hiking activities. Another great time to visit with less crowds is during the winter. You can still enjoy highs of up to 21C in July, which might be warm enough for a dip in the ocean!  Given it’s tropical climate, the biggest rainfall actually happens during the summer season up until May. The weather at this time is hot, sticky and rainy as its wet season.

Noosa Heads Accommodation

There’s some really cool places to stay in this coastal city, so let us share with you our top two faves. We’re a fan of slowing down these days, so we love Life Unhurried’s proposition of sustainable accommodation around Australia. Check out the Shack Palace Holiday Home, built from sustainable materials and designed all around mindfulness. Complete with an outdoor shower, stunning views and kitchen, it makes for an excellent base. Otherwise, if you’re looking for somewhere that sleeps up to 6 and also comes with a little pool, we adore The Lodge.

How to spend a weekend in Noosa Heads

Travis Noosa Heads Guide - Relax at the Ocean

Friday afternoon

Fly into the Sunshine Coast airport in Maroochydoore from any Australian capital city and either pickup a car or grab a taxi to Noosa Heads, just 30 minutes away. Pickup the keys to your accommodation and drop your bags, before heading out for an afternoon at the Noosa Heads main beach. There’s something about being at the ocean that instantly relaxes, and you’ve only got limited time here, so don’t waste any opportunity to be by the water! After you’ve taken some sun and had a splash, head back to your accommodation to freshen up. With so many great bars and distilleries in town, you need to try at least one while you’re here.

Friday evening

We’ve booked you a seat at the best brewery in town, the Land and Sea Brewery. Here you can enjoy locally crafted beer that celebrates local products and sustainability. Sit back and relax as you breathe in that holiday air. After you’ve cooled down with the most delicious beer in town, we’re sure you’re ready to eat. Tonight, you’re trying Light Years. It’s a super cool Asian style restaurant that celebrates fresh, modern flavours. Nibble on kingfish ceviche, a range of curries or korean fried chicken, depending on your taste. With an awesome cocktail list, you don’t want to miss out on this restaurant! With a full belly, you can head ‘home’ back to your hotel or apartment and enjoy an early night to enjoy Saturday properly.

Saturday morning

Head out to the popular Hastings Street for breakfast today. You’re sure to find a range of great cafes just waiting to serve you poached eggs, avocado on sourdough and a good cup of coffee, but we particularly love Aromas. After a sustaining breakfast, make the most of the weather before it gets too hot by going on a hike through the Noosa National Park. There are many different routes you can take, but a firm favourite is the Coastal Walk. If you want to do the full return walk, you should allow for about four hours. However, if you don’t feel like spending your entire day walking then just enjoy the ride for as long as you feel before turning back around!

Keep lunch light and pick up a sandwich or something easy to take with you on a picnic in Noosaville. Providore on Hastings Street is the perfect place to pick up something easy and quick. Wander around the river where you can stop to have a bite to eat. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon relaxing with a good book or podcast on Sunshine Beach in Noosa.

If you’ve still got the energy, then we really think you should preserve with the next top tip! Get to Mount Tinbeerwah in time to watch the most spectacular sunset. It’s an easy 15 minute drive from Noosa Heads, with a short 1km walk to the top. You’ll be rewarded with a stunning view over Noosa and the Pacific Ocean, and sunset time is even more magical. After you’ve snapped some photos, shower off at your accommodation and get ready for another fantastic restaurant in Noosa Heads. Tonight, you can choose between pizza at El Capitano or Mexican food at Paradise Arcade. Both restaurants guarantee a delicious meal, so you really can’t go wrong!

Sunday morning

Start your last morning with a trip to the Noosa Farmers Market. Enjoy a simple breakfast of fresh produce as you stroll along the market. You might even find a few little treats to bring home with you! If you’ve still got time, then get one last swim in. You really shouldn’t miss the Noosa Heads Fairy Pools, they’re simply stunning. These natural rock pools are along the coast, but about a 45 minute walk from the Main Beach, so if you’re short on time it makes sense to drive. Enjoy a swim in these stunning little pools before showering off and heading back to the airport in time for your flight home.
