Travis April 2021 Update - What's New?

Here's a big update! Here’s what we’re celebrating at Travis as we swing into April.

Notable Moments

🎂 We marked Sylvain’s one year anniversary with Travis.

Starting your first day as CTO at a travel startup while in Melbourne lockdown, that’s not for the faint of heart. When asked what he’s most proud of in this time? “Simply seeing people use the product that we’ve built from the ground up! Every time I see a new story shared or moodboard created, that makes me proud.”

🎉 We’ve officially completed the Skalata Ventures Seed Investment Program.

In Oct 2020, Skalata Ventures came on board as our first investor! Here we joined a cohort of 14 other Australian startups as we worked through a fast-paced six months, from launching in private beta and tripling our beta waitlist in this time, to weekly pitch practice sessions, and getting feedback by some of Australia’s best startup operators.

Collaborations

We are big believers of collaboration and are thrilled to be working with Aussie travel and tourism brands to uncover unique Australian destinations and experiences, and inspire Aussies to go on their next weekend getaway or first roadtrip in 2021.

We teamed up with Camplify, and photographers Harry Pope and bloggers Maddie & Jeromie from The Wining Hills to discover roadtrips in VIC and WA! Here’s Harry’s guide to 3 days down the iconic Great Ocean Road in Sproutvans. Thinking of a lap around Western Australia and not sure where to start? The Wining Hills shares their guide to 7 days around Western Australia - their first roadtrip in their van Harry with highlights like Esperance, Denmark, and Margaret River.

👝 July offers beautifully designed bags - from luggage to totes - for the modern traveller. They’ve recently launched the lightest double-wheel suitcase in the world, at just 1.8kg! No more awkwardly, clumsily trying to manage your bags while on the go. We teamed up with July to uncover diverse weekend escape experiences across the country - from a roadtrip in the New England Highlands in New South Wales with photographer Alex Spurway, to a foodie weekend in Daylesford, Victoria with food writer Elizabeth Maidment, and a coastal escape in the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia, with Jenn Thompson.

⛰ Hike & Seek offers small group day hikes to Victoria’s best regional destinations, like Wilsons Prom, Great Ocean Road, and Mornington Peninsula. With pick ups and drop offs right in Melbourne CBD, we think it’s perfect for anyone who would love to be driven and shown where to go, instead of figuring it all out yourself! Hatty Bell joined Hike & Seek for a day to the Grampians, for some of the most unreal landscapes just outside of Melbourne. Check out her guide to the Grampians here to get inspired for your next adventure.
